Session Topics
1. - How We Can Know the Bible is from God - Lenny
Esposito
Synopsis:
Christians hold that the Bible is God's revealed word given to us. But
critics argue that the Bible was written by men and changed over the
years to suit their purposes. Popular novels like The Da Vinci Code
assert there are "lost books" that have been left out. And
other faiths claims their sacred writings are inspired. Is there a way
to tell? In this session, Lenny Esposito will demonstrate how we can
have assurance that the Bible is indeed the Word of God.
2. Defending Your Faith Against Evolution -
Dr. Craig Hazen
Synopsis:
Evolution. Most high schools and colleges teach it today as unquestioned
fact. However, new evidence has emerged that cast serious doubt on
modern views of the theory. In this session, Dr. Craig Hazen will review
a few of the most devastating arguments against modern evolutionary
synthesis and show why it is reasonable to believe that man is
intelligently designed, a product of special creation.
3. Dealing with the Cults: Talking to the JWs
and Mormons at your Door - Lenny
Esposito
Synopsis:
Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter Day Saints both hold that historic
Christianity is mistaken in its understanding the nature of God, Jesus,
and salvation. They frequently quote scripture and their arguments seem
convincing. Here, cult expert Robert Bowman will review the basic
approach of the cults at your door and what you should look for when
talking with them.
4. "True for You, But Not for Me": The Challenge of Postmodernism - Dr. J.P. Moreland
Synopsis:
Today, many people assume that truth is fluid; your experiences and
culture are those things that define your reality. How do you convince
someone of their need for the gospel when they deny absolute truth? Even
within the church postmodernism is having a destructive effect on the
attitudes of Christians. Here, Dr. J.P. Moreland will address this
flawed thought process and offer reasons why a postmodern worldview
cannot stand up under scrutiny.
